PUBLIC EREMITE

The stage performance Public Eremite deals with themes, dramaturgy and spacial situations borrowed from ”being” online and specifically looks at shifts of presence in the interaction with audience. The performance plays upon a naive and fairytale-like surface but between sound, words and movement, information is being organized and manipulated. Full documentation of the performance can be seen here.

Public Eremite was created in close collaboration with the composer Johannes Burström and the artist Clélia Colonna. The creation process also included music and choreography exchange with online collaborators, inteviews, a half fictive survey and materialized in an end process shared with Sigrid Wurzinger (costume), Laura Weiss (set-design), Gerhald Pappenberger (light) and Dominik Grünbühel (projections).

Helmut Ploebst Standard 29/11 2013

'“Ruth has created a subtle performance that stimulates to reflect on the uncanniness of the Internet's dominance over our lives... ...Her bright but slightly disturbing smile successfully creeps in.” Defying the Realm of Digital Staring by Astrid Peterle On Charlotta Ruth’s 'Public Eremite (click title for full paper)
