HÖRSELGÅNG
Sound walk for two people.
The title Hörselgång hints at a speculative channel that allows one to listen to, and through, somebody else’s ears. In the Swedish language, gång stands for English “channel”, but also “walkway” or “path”. “Hörsel” means hearing.
In Hörselgång spoken instructions and choreographic clues combined with binaural synthesis and enhanced listening practices, interfere with the subjective situatedness of auditory perception. The walk puts different models of perception at play, allowing forms of coexistence, inviting the two participants to go not in and not outside of this world - but "between”.
Hörselgång is a collaboration with sound artist Daniele Pozzi, initiated in the simularr artistic research project in 2023, and since then it has been presented in international art festivals and artistic research conferences. The photo documentation is from Alliances & Commonalities, Stockholm University of the Arts, October 2024
A semi-automated system was generated for systematising the thoughts/objects/data/ that was generated or collected by the visitors. An “everything is already here machine” that was fed by the thoughts and group intelligence of the participants. Towards the end, the participants gained insights about the back-end and where given an individual report and dream prescription. Dramaturgically it however remained ambiguous wether the QUESTIONOLOGY programme also collected data for other than individual purposes.
